KA TA SEE – ‘SETTING THE WORLD IN BALANCE’

The Ways of the Eastern Andes as Taught by the Hetakas

Ka Ta See is an ancient tradition, a sacred way of life that has been known and lived for countless generations among a remote tribal people in the Andes Mountains.  This way of life is centered in ‘Song’ – that vast beautiful essence of each and every person, of each and every being in the web of life.  When living in Song, our unique aliveness, knowing, purpose and gifts are freely and vibrantly felt, expressed, honored and shared.

Following the prophecies of their people, Chea and Domano Hetaka, elders and shamans, made their way from Peru to North America in the 1970’s.  Following their visions and spirit guidance, the Hetakas quested for the student with whom they would share their ancient tradition and medicine ways.  Kay Cordell Whitaker was a young mother attending college who became the Hetakas’ apprentice for thirteen years.  She has written about her experiences in two books: The Reluctant Shaman and Sacred Link.

The Hetakas recognized that the world was out of balance, that people were buried in hierarchy, judgments and fears.  The Hetakas shared their ancient way of life as a gift of awakening and self-empowerment, offering us the opportunity to remember and reclaim our natural way of being – happy, harmonious, connected with all life, healthy, free and passionately alive.

Since 2000, JoAnne Dodgson has been apprenticing in the Ka Ta See tradition with Kay Cordell Whitaker.  JoAnne’s apprenticeship involves learning and living the tradition and pursuing extensive studies in order to share the teachings, give initiation ceremonies, offer traditional energy healings, and guide spirit journeys.  JoAnne is a shaman, a seer, healer and teacher, a medicine storyteller in the ways of Ka Ta See.
